Watch our new music video “I Almost Kissed a Butterfly”
Dear Insect-loving Friends,
I’m excited to introduce a new music video featuring my song,
“I Almost Kissed a Butterfly”. Watch my hand motions in the chorus while you sing and move your hands along with me. Perhaps you can color your own butterfly to use. Or make up your own hand motions! Enjoy learning about butterfly and caterpillar behavior and then blow a kiss to the next butterfly you see in your neighborhood!
For teachers and parents: Dive deeper into the learning with your children! We have a companion lesson for this song in an editable and interactive Google Doc. It includes questions, activities, crafts, and resources for additional learning. It meets ELA and NGSS for students K-2.
Check it out on our store.
“I Almost Kissed a Butterfly” is from our Parents’ Choice® Award-winning album “EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED and Other Animal Songs for Kids”. Enjoy this music video and fly high with learning more about butterflies!
With a flutter in my heart,
Birdsong

Would you like to attract butterflies to your yard or porch? Here are some suggestions:
- Plant native plants that caterpillars and butterflies feed on. (NWF has a list here).
- Plant a variety of color; butterflies are particularly attracted to red, yellow, orange, pink and purple flowers.
- Plant nectar-rich flowers in the sun, where butterflies prefer to feed.
- Provide places for the butterflies to rest (like flat rocks) and places for them to “puddle” in moist sand.
- Don’t use pesticides in your garden.
