Birdsong shares a boy’s first encounter with a Humpback Whale!

Hello Whale-Loving Friends!

    January 2019 was an extraordinary month for viewing humpback whales in Southern California! One of the highlights for me was sharing this special moment with a 9-year-old boy from Midwest USA who had never before seen a whale in the wild. He had studied them in school and was so excited to tell his classmates about his humpback whale encounters when he returned home.

    Like many of you, this boy knew a lot about protecting the ocean and was eager to learn more. He is one among many young ocean stewards! Thank you to the teachers and parents around the world who are helping kids learn about the world’s oceans, the animals who live there, and what we can do to protect them. 

    One of the many dangers for humpback whales and most marine animals is the enormous amount of plastic trash in the ocean. Most of all, keep learning all you can about the ocean and the amazing animals who live there. As the dolphins say in our song, “After all, the ocean is our home!”
